Africa has 8599 churches of the Nazarene with only 1716 ordained clergy to serve those churches. The difference between how many Nazarene churches are in existence and how many ordained clergy are available to serve those churches is called “the clergy gap.”
The Situation. Church growth across Africa far exceeds the number of pastors trained and ordained. The charts below show that Africa has .20 ordained ministers per church whereas the USA/Canada has 2.2 ordained ministers per church. Why this gap? There are too few tracks for ministers to be educated.
The Solution: For us to work alongside Nazarene leaders to increase the number of and improve the access to viable courses of study to train both lay and clergy ministers. EDUF calls this “fortifying ministerial education across Africa”.
Mission: EDUF exists to fortify ministerial education throughout Africa.
